What is ACFE International Fraud Awareness Week?
ACFE International Fraud Awareness Week, or Fraud Week, was established by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) in 2000 as a dedicated time to raise awareness about fraud. The week-long campaign encourages business leaders and employees to proactively take steps to minimize the impact of fraud by promoting anti-fraud awareness and education.
Certified Fraud Examiners (CFEs) estimate organizations lose 5% of their revenue annually due to fraud, according to Occupational Fraud 2024: A Report to the Nations. Fraud takes many shapes and forms, among them corporate fraud, consumer fraud, tax fraud, identity theft and many others. Deterrence begins with making individuals aware that fraud will not be tolerated, and that controls are in place to detect it.
